چکیده
Messier 15 (NGC 7078) is an old and metal-poor post core-collapse globular cluster which hosts a rich population of variable stars. We report new optical ($gi$) near-infrared (NIR, $JK_s$) multi-epoch observations for 129 RR Lyrae, 4 Population II Cepheids (3 BL Herculis, 1 W Virginis), anomalous Cepheid candidate in M15 obtained using the MegaCam WIRCam instruments on 3.6-m Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope. Nonlinear Beat Cepheid and RR Lyrae Models
The numerical hydrodynamic modelling of beat Cepheid behavior has been a long standing quest in which purely radiative models had failed consistently. We find that beat pulsations occur naturally when turbulent convection is accounted for in our hydrodynamics code. The development of a relaxation code and of a Floquet stability analysis greatly facilitates the search for and the analysis of bea...
متن کاملCcd Observations of the Rr Lyrae Variables in the Globular Cluster Ngc 5897
CCD observations for 10 (6 previously known and 4 newly discovered) of the 11 RR Lyrae variables in NGC 5897 have been analysed. The period-luminosity and period-amplitude plots indicate that the population of RR Lyrae variables in NGC 5897 includes 3 fundamental mode, 4 first-overtone and 4 second-overtone variables with mean periods 0.828, 0.459 and 0.343 respectively. The variables have prop...
متن کاملNear - Infrared Observations of RR Lyrae variables in Galactic Globular Clusters : I . The case of M 92
We present near-infrared J,H, and K-band time series observations of the Galactic Globular Cluster (GGC) M92. On the basis of these data, we derived well-sampled light curves for eleven out of the seventeen cluster RR Lyrae variables , and in turn, accurate mean near-infrared (NIR) magnitudes. The comparison between predicted and empirical slopes of NIR Period-Luminosity (PL) relations indicate...
متن کاملRR Lyrae-based calibration of the Globular Cluster Luminosity Function
We test whether the peak absolute magnitude MV (TO) of the Globular Cluster Luminosity Function (GCLF) can be used for reliable extragalactic distance determinations. Starting with the luminosity function of the Galactic Globular Clusters listed in Harris catalog, we determine MV (TO) either using current calibrations of the absolute magnitude MV (RR) of RR Lyrae stars as a function of the clus...
متن کاملM75, a Globular Cluster with a Trimodal Horizontal Branch. Ii. Bv Photometry of the Rr Lyrae Variables
We present new BV CCD photometry, light curves, and ephemerides for 9 previously known, 29 newly detected RR Lyrae variables and one newly detected variable of an unknown type in the globular cluster M75. The photometry used for the detection of the additional variables was obtained with the image subtraction package ISIS. The data were acquired on an observing run in July 1999 and range over 7...
